For a long time he lingered in a wasteland of rubble on the edge of the city, by a puddle yellowed with sunset, listening to the rustling of riverside plants.
Inadvertently, the rubble reminded him of something larger, something more capacious. The uplifts, the dips, the swaying weeds. With this vague image,
he continued more calmly, moving then into the sphere of gratitude, in the center of the sphere a jagged plane tree leaf on the otherwise empty asphalt.
