Following the exhibition at Kunstquartier Bethanien, NEUN returns in a new format as Afterimage, bringing together seven photographers who approach documentary photography as personal inquiry.

Some turn their cameras outward to burlesque stages, suspended realities, towards architectural heritage and collective memory, to northern landscapes scarred by extractivism, or animals cleaving to hyper-constructed conditions of coexistence. Others turn inward, toward daily ritual, and the quiet persistence of folding clothes or making tea. Some do both at once.

The exhibition presents no final images, only beginnings, entries, and continuations. Together, the works trace fault lines of nature, belonging, memory, and healing.

These projects grew out of a year-long seminar at Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie, led and curated by Mustafah Abdulaziz.

For this new iteration at Gr_und, the exhibition is accompanied by a public programme of DJ sets, workshops, and gatherings, extending the conversation beyond the gallery space.
