Since 2018, photographer Patricia Kühfuss has been driven by the question: “How can we represent the nursing profession adequately?” Professional care is layered, holds essential expertise, and still stays invisible too often.
To fill the gap between real life and images, in her latest project Kühfuss first followed nurses at Charité Berlin for over a year. She then interviewed professionals from nursing and the nursing sciences on what they see in those pictures. “This brings to the table many aspects that are actually invisible, but wouldn’t come up without the pictures,” she says. The result opens a shared space to see what it means to take care in a hospital.
