In a joint exhibition and book presentation, Jens and Corinna Rosteck present “Double Game – Landscapes of Minds” at Galerie Gondwana in Berlin-Schöneberg.
In their collaborative livre d’artiste “Doppeltes Spiel – Gedankenlandschaften” (Double Game – Landscapes of Minds”), Jens Rosteck and Corinna Rosteck present an extraordinary fusion of poetry and photography that transcends traditional art forms. The result is an art book that unites poetic constellations with visual compositions, contrasting, mirroring, complementing, and merging long-form poems with worlds of imagery that are at once abstract, maritime, and dance-like. The siblings employ their artistic mediums as a mirror of their relationship and their individual inner worlds—shaped by a shared life journey spanning nearly six decades. It is a literary-visual pairing that fascinates and seduces, challenges and stimulates.
The “Double Game” project is defined by a willingness to be seen, a delight in language, and the revealing of intimacy. The boundaries between the self and various visual, textual, and musical shadows blur. The artists accept the risk of misunderstanding and lead a precarious existence, for exposing oneself to scrutiny and making closeness legible inevitably entails vulnerability.
Techniques of superimposition, diffuse transitions, and blurred contours point to an open aesthetic framework. Realities are played out, tested, discarded, mirrored, and reconciled. Double exposure overrides the conventions of photography and language, inviting introspection, seeing, listening, and meditation.
“Double Game” is an invitation to capture beauty and explore the multifaceted nature of human relationships—“lascivious and unpredictable, flirtatious and fleeting, back to back, brow to brow, soul to soul.”

Water and dance are recurring motifs in her photo and video installations. These powerful, dynamic images explore the human condition—human longings and vulnerability—amidst emotional, tension-filled states of transition. Such “unsettling realities” mark fragile states of dynamic equilibrium, intensified by multiple exposures and superimpositions that allow time to be experienced not linearly, but as a condensed, layered element. A key feature of her painterly photographic series is a distinctive surface technique that lends an oscillating light effect to the metallic, reflective images and fluid motifs. Collaborations with performers and renowned dance ensembles result in room-filling projections where live performance, imagery, light, and space merge into a Gesamtkunstwerk—a total work of art. Curatorial projects and site-specific art installations complement Corinna Rosteck’s body of work. Her pieces are represented in international collections.

Through his extensive biographies and acclaimed artist portraits, as well as his nuanced depictions of cities, islands, and coastlines, Jens Rosteck has created a genre entirely his own. It sits at the intersection of scholarly research, deep background knowledge, and vivid biographical storytelling, all infused with remarkable literary sensitivity and musical empathy. He crafts his works by considering topography, the need for expressiveness, “positive exile,” and lyrical potential as prerequisites for creativity. His unique ability to place the lives, character studies, journeys, fates, and works of his subjects within their historical and social contexts—while offering psychological insight and fostering a genuine dialogue with contemporary audiences—makes his work (focused on French and American modernism) and his staged piano-accompanied readings informative, entertaining, profound, and captivating.
