The exhibition “The Remix Project,” featuring original photographs by Pancho Assoluto and artistic interpretations of his portraits by Rinaldo Hopf, Fausto, Marat Abadi, Armin Scheid, Greif Lazic, Antti Eric Joronen, Luke Carter, Detlev Pusch, Stephanie Levers, Saskia Reis, Georg Meyer-Wiel, Bruno Kohler, Stephan Thiel and Alexandre Levi will open on Wed, Sep 9, 2026, at 6 pm at tunnel19 in Berlin-Kreuzberg. The exhibition is open from Thursday to Sunday, from 4 pm to 8 pm. There is an exciting supporting program featuring artist talks (see details below).

Photo artist Pancho Assoluto, who has been active in the queer scene for over 15 years, presents a multifaceted exhibition in this framework. His artistic work ranges from cultural and political educational projects to personal micro-worlds within photography. Currently, the Municipal Gallery in his hometown of Iserlohn (NRW) is dedicating a two-story exhibition to his work. Assoluto himself describes the opening as “great.” Press coverage spans from local to international specialized and queer media.

A special part of the exhibition is dedicated to the “Remix Project.” This project will travel to Berlin in September and includes interpretations and “remixes” of his portraits created by queer artist friends. Assoluto emphasizes that it was important to him to “involve friends who are familiar with my work” in order to avoid creating an inappropriate homage. 14 artists from his European network dismantled his portraits and reassembled them using their own techniques. “I see a remix as an evolution or individual interpretation of an artistic work, similar to music. This collaboration is central for me to remain in dialogue, especially in politically questionable times.”

Coinciding with Berlin Art Week, Jörg Dedering from tunnel19 has invited Pancho Assoluto to present the entire exhibition. Numerous artists will be present at the opening to introduce their works. These range from painting and pastel to calligraphy and cartoonization, as well as object art on skateboards and assemblages by Saskia Reis.

In addition, Assoluto will present his new book “Mirrorhood,” which explores the complex intertwinings of identity and reality.
